Schneier’s Hush Function
One feature of Singaporean Internet is the most of its traffic automatically routed trough a few proxy servers and there is nothing much you can do about it. Generally it is not a big deal, but there is one (or couple) of such servers at Singnet has something against Bruce Schneier. It persistently filters out the HTTP port (TCP/80) at http://www.schneier.com thus blocks access to Schneier’s Web site. The proxy does not block access to the whole host schneier.com; it just blocks Web service there. And it is just at the Schneier’s site, I haven’t seen any other sites filtered out this way. Not sure about a cause, it may be an odd technical glitch of some sort or an intentional censorship. Bruce have no idea either, there are no any ACLs implemented at his site. Well, regardless of reasons, I found this situation rather annoying.
